Reflections on a Mission Trip
Dec 02, 2024When Tom visited Ulu, Kenya this summer on a mission trip, he encountered a community whose faith radiates through their joyful giving. At a Catholic service, the offertory collection was a true celebration. For over ten minutes, everyone came forward, making individual offerings - and then joyfully dancing as a community through the church!
It was a powerful reminder of 2 Corinthians 9:7 “God loves a cheerful giver.” Watching these faithful people, who have so little, give so freely and celebrate the opportunity to give back to God challenged Tom—and should challenge all of us—to reconsider how we give. Do we approach giving with joy and gratitude?
This Giving Tuesday, we’re reminded that generosity is an act of worship, a way to thank God for all He’s given us and to partner in building His Kingdom. Your support of Rebuilt helps parishes grow, thrive, and inspire others to deepen their faith. You make it possible for us to share stories like these, where the joy of giving is lived out so profoundly.
Thank you for being part of this mission. As you give today —whether to Rebuilt or your other favorite organizations—may you find joy, gratitude, and God’s abundant blessings!
